"HIQA published a draft HTA on COVID-19 vaccination in Ireland (June 29, 2026). Key findings: COVID-19 burden decreased but remains high among older adults; vaccination uptake declined since September 2023; vaccines are safe and effective but protection wanes; at €75/dose, twice-yearly vaccination of 80+ would cost €112m over 5 years and is not cost-effective, but at €60/dose it becomes cost-effective. The HTA will inform Department of Health decisions on prioritisation for 2027/2028."
