HIQA opens public consultation on health technology assessment for COVID-19 vaccination in Ireland (hiqa.ie)

• HIQA's draft HTA on COVID-19 vaccination is open for public consultation until 9 August 2026.
• The HTA aims to inform which groups should be funded for vaccination from 2027-2028 onwards.
• Twice-yearly vaccination for adults 80+ estimated to cost HSE additional €112 million over five years at €75 per dose.

"HIQA launched a six-week public consultation on its draft health technology assessment (HTA) for COVID-19 vaccination policy in Ireland, covering the 2027-2028 campaign and beyond. The HTA, requested by the Department of Health, advises on which groups should receive publicly funded vaccination. It estimates that twice-yearly vaccination for those aged 80+ would cost the HSE an additional €112 million over five years at €75 per dose. The public can submit feedback through a survey until 9 August 2026."
