HIQA publishes inspections of Tusla children's residential centres in Ireland (hiqa.ie)

• A South West centre was non-compliant in all five standards, with drug use and governance failures.
• A second South West centre was compliant in six of eight standards.
• A Dublin North East centre was non-compliant in four of seven standards, with risk management shortcomings.

"HIQA published three reports on unannounced inspections of children's residential centres run by Tusla in the South West and Dublin North East regions, conducted in January-February 2026. One centre in the South West was non-compliant with all five standards assessed, including illicit substance use going unaddressed and poor governance. A second centre in the same region was compliant with six of eight standards. A centre in Dublin North East was non-compliant with four of seven standards, particularly risk management. Tusla submitted satisfactory compliance plans."
