"New Irish legislation effective 30 June 2026 allows community pharmacies to retain prescriptions electronically, including for controlled drugs, ending the requirement to print Healthmail prescriptions. The changes amend Medicinal Products, Misuse of Drugs, and Retail Pharmacy Business regulations, and follow a collaborative process involving the IPU, Department of Health, HSE, and PSI. Pharmacies must wait for system vendor updates before full adoption, with a transition period. The IPU will provide support guides and resources."
