"HIQA's 2023 annual report records 2,189 inspections of health and social care services. The authority prepared for new powers under the Patient Safety (Notifiable Incidents and Open Disclosure) Act 2023, expanding its remit to private hospitals and requiring reporting of notifiable incidents. It also prepared to monitor International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) centres and launched a statutory review into surgical implants at Children's Health Ireland (CHI). HIQA published the National Maternity Bereavement Experience Survey and launched the National End of Life Survey. A national engagement on digitalisation of health and social care was conducted."
